I have traveled many a mile JUST to see a light house. I have an unwavering attraction to them and I know why. They are all automated and electric today but back in simpler times the KEEPER had to polish the lenses and glass so that the light could travel as far as possible. The KEEPER had to also carry the cans of oil up the many flights of stairs to fuel the light so that it would burn all night long. I imagine that it would get awfully cold in winter and miserably hot in summer but the KEEPER did their job.
What is most moving to me about the life of a KEEPER was that they never met any of the people whose lives they saved. They didn't have a chance to have a coffee with a fisherman who would have been lost at sea had the light not been on. The KEEPER was always for the most part safe while they who searched for the light were sometimes in grave danger. You could be a KEEPER,...safe in the arms of the Lord while they that are yet to find safe labour are out there in the dark looking for the light.... so keep on KEEPING the light on....KEEPER.
1 Corinthians 15:58..... be ye steadfast, unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord.
This little light of mine, I will let it shine. Thank you Pastor for sharing this. We never know who is out there looking for our light.
